The injury list keeps growing for the Detroit Lions. Friday morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported running Zonovan Knight will miss the rest of the season due to the shoulder injury he suffered in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers.

Knight was a shrewd and interesting addition to the Lions' practice squad late in the preseason, after he was released by the New York Jets. He was an easy addition to the 53-man roster when David Montgomery missed Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons, as he was almost poached by another team.

But Knight did not have a ton of opportunities. He played just nine offensive snaps over two games, suffering his injury against the Panthers after a reception along the sideline. He lowered his shoulder, and after a hard collision he remained on the ground and came off the field holding his left arm.

Knight seemed to know what was coming after the game.

Detroit Lions running back depth further tested with Zonovan Knight out for season

With Jahmyr Gibbs looking iffy to play on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as he deals with a hamstring injury, Montgomery and Craig Reynolds are the only fully healthy running backs on the Lions' 53-man roster. Devine Ozibgo is in line to be elevated from the practice squad before Sunday's game, but a separate addition may be in order now.

Ozigbo originally signed with the Lions during training camp on Aug. 9. He was released on Aug. 27, then brought back on the practice squad on Sept. 20. He has played 25 NFL regular season games for three teams, with 14 carries for 29 yards and 14 receptions for 75 yards.

With Knight and cornerback Emmanuel Moseley (torn ACL) headed for IR but not official yet, the Lions will have two open spots on the 53-man roster in the coming days.
