Coaching Staff-3.5/5 Stars

There were at least half a dozen instances where the Lions were faced with a third-and-long, and they ran the ball. That is not how you win football games, no matter how good your ground game is. Campbell taking over play-calling brought a conservative approach, which wasn’t always helpful.

It has been incredibly frustrating to watch the relentless amount of screen passes this year. Or even just short pass concepts in general, it seems like nothing goes past the sticks. Goff’s limitations only go so far to explain the lack of aggressiveness.

Final Thoughts

This one hurts. The Lions were coming off their bye week, and the Steelers are on a short week. They also were missing their starting quarterback, and two of their three early-season starters at wide receiver. It was a classic trap game for Pittsburgh.

The defense played really well all day. And with how good the run game was, this had win written all over it.

But in traditional Lions fashion, they found a way to avoid a victory being handed to them on a silver platter. A tie is still an improvement though–it’s a 13-game winless streak now.

Is it really too much to ask for a win? Maybe next week, on the road against another AFC North team in the Cleveland Browns.

Final grade: 4/5
