The Dallas Cowboys could possess the most talented trio of wide receivers in the NFL. And the Lions might benefit from that fact.

Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup are each potential 1,000-yard receivers in the Cowboys’ high octane offense led by third-year offensive coordinator and former Lions backup quarterback Kellen Moore. And all three could be number one receivers in their own right.

But there’s a fork in the road coming for Gallup, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract in Dallas. With Cooper signing a five-year, $100 million deal just last season and the Cowboys using their 2020 first-round draft pick on Lamb, neither figures to be leaving Dallas anytime soon.

With so many needs elsewhere on their roster, it seems unlikely that the Cowboys will choose to extend Gallup’s contract in Dallas beyond this season. That makes Gallup a potential trade option.

The former third-rounder out of Colorado State has become a draft steal for the Cowboys. Gallup had a breakout season in 2019 recording 66 receptions for 1,107 yards and six touchdowns. He backed up that play last year despite losing quarterback Dak Prescott in Week Five. The 25-year old was still able to post 59 catches for 843 yards and five scores despite having four different QBs under center in 2020.
