Can you imagine a world where Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford remains with the team in 2021? And has two new stellar wide receivers at targets in the passing game?

The possibility exists, as it might every year. But this time, imagine a division rival joins the receiving corps alongside a current Super Bowl contender.

The first new target: Allen Robinson

Replacing receivers Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones won’t be easy. Both are free agents and we don’t know which direction new head coach Dan Campbell is going, but we can play a little hypothetical game of which receivers will be with the Detroit Lions in 2021.

In this scenario, the Lions sign division rival and quietly successful wide receiver Allen Robinson. With 102 receptions for 1,250 yards in 2020, he more than makes up for Jones’ production in the receptions and yardage categories. Jones was only a couple of catches away from crossing the 1,000-yard mark, so comparing these two makes a lot of sense.

At the same time, Robinson brings the same game-breaking ability as Golladay, including contested catches. Robinson is number one and Golladay is number two in that category since 2018. Even if not a direct replacement for either current Lions receiver, Robinson would be a fantastic addition to the roster in 2021.
