Dec 26th: Detroit’s 2nd Interim Head Coach

The second significant effect the coronavirus had on the Lions was last week. When interim head coach Darrell Bevell and the majority of his defensive staff went on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Wide receivers coach, Robert Prince, had to step in as the 2nd interim head coach this season.

This could have been fixed. If the NFL postponed the game to Sunday, Bevell would have been eligible to coach the game. However, the NFL and their hunger for money couldn’t afford to move this game after the promotion done for the matchup.

Not to mention, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had too much on the line with a potential playoff berth on the horizon. It wouldn’t be fair to give the Lions an advantage by allowing their original interim coach on the field. Especially since they’ve been so good this year.

I hope you’ve grasped on to my sarcasm, although the NFL handled this poorly. Allowing the Lions to head into that game with a coaching staff who was under-qualified. Usually, I’d be heated in situations such as this, but Detroit’s season was already done with at this point.

At the end of the day, this game will be remembered in NFL history due to unusual circumstances.

All Season: Emergence of Jack Fox

Before wrapping up, I had to show some love to punter Jack Fox. According to pro football focus, Fox is the highest graded punter in the NFL. Going from a position battle in training camp to a pro-bowl is a fantastic story.
