Nov 4th: Matthew Stafford’s Covid-19 Scare

One of my biggest fears this season was having quarterback Matthew Stafford miss a few weeks if he were to get the coronavirus. Fortunately, he hasn’t had it, but in Week 12, there was a close contact situation that forced him on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Due to the NFL rules, he had to miss the entire week of practice. However, he was active for the game. During quarantine, his daughter had an accident and went to the hospital. It was a nightmare for Stafford, where he almost had to break protocol because nobody wanted to step up and watch after his kids.

Eventually, he found someone, allowing him to play the game against the Minnesota Vikings. It didn’t go well. My heart broke for Stafford. I couldn’t even imagine what it would’ve been like to play a game under those circumstances.

I decided to add this to the list because it once again shows Stafford’s undying loyalty to this disgrace of a franchise. In this instance, it was probably at the highest peak we will ever see it. This week he’s attempting to start despite nursing three different injuries.
