Here’s a 53-man roster prediction as the Detroit Lions have begun training camp

The Detroit Lions have started training camp. Which, if you didn’t know, is available to stream on YouTube.

I thought I’d share my projected 53-man roster before we really get know these Lions’ players. Keep in mind with limited access to the Lions’ training camp, some of my choices are based on previous seasons, draft standing, etc.

Quarterback (3): Matthew Stafford, Chase Daniels, David Blough

The Detroit Lions should consider keeping three quarterbacks on roster. Mainly due to the uncertainty of COVID-19 and injuries. One thing I would recommend is signing a fourth QB, who would stay on the team’s practice squad, just as a precaution.

Running Back (5): Kerryon Johnson, D’Andre Swift, Bo Scarbrough, Jason Huntley, Nick Bawden (FB)

Although nothing is guaranteed, it’s safe to say Kerryon Johnson and D’Andre Swift will be on the final roster. Watch for Bo Scarbrough and newly acquired back Jonathan Williams to fight for the role of power-back.

Jason Huntley and Ty Johnson are competing for a spot as the Lions’ scat back. The Nick Bawden decision was based on a whim, despite many believing the Lions will go without a full back and use tight end Isaac Nauta at the position when needed.
