Tier 5:

Fifth-tier journeymen, good backup types, unproven players:

Dwayne Haskins, Kyle Allen, Josh Rosen, Drew Lock, Andy Dalton

Lastly, these players have had some starts under their belt but haven’t played enough or produced enough to put them in a higher tier. Haskins played the majority of the 2019 season but was largely ineffective. He still has a lot of potential as a rookie and former first-round pick, though.

Kyle Allen, likewise, started twelve games, had a decent year but was not in the top-30 in analytics measures and total QBR. He did perform admirably filling in for an injured Cam Newton in Carolina, though.

Drew Lock looks like the starter going forward in Denver but his small sample size of starts makes giving him a higher tier rating difficult.

Dalton has performed better in some years but is currently a marginal starter at best. He ranks in that top-35 category but just doesn’t have a lot of upside at this point.

Josh Rosen has flashed potential but hasn’t been able to demonstrate that he is ready to start. Rosen still has some upside and will likely get another shot in a quarterback-driven NFL.
