2 players to watch for the Chiefs

Mecole Hardman, WR

With Hill unlikely to suit up, Hardman becomes the Chiefs’ fastest receiver, and will also step in for Hill on returns. He has just six catches on the year, but his burst and field-stretching ability is a perfect fit for Mahomes’ powerful right arm.

Look for the Lions to play their share of single and even double high safety sets in order to prevent Hardman from beating them over the top, particularly if Darius Slay is forced to sit out.

Bashaud Breeland, CB

If the Chiefs are vulnerable anywhere, it is in their back seven, where they lack difference makers. Breeland leads Chiefs cornerbacks in total snaps but has struggled in coverage this year.

The Lions have gotten some fine performances out of each of their top three receivers this season and could look to attack Breeland in hopes of sustaining drives and producing the big plays needed to keep pace with Kansas City.
