2 players to watch for the Lions

T.J. Hockenson, TE

It’s been tough sledding for the Lions’ rookie tight end over the last two weeks after a fabulous debut in Week 1. Over the past two games, Hockenson has just two catches for eight yards, dropped a sure touchdown against the Eagles, and had another one called off after stepping out of bounds in the same game.

The Lions will need him to help move the chains through the air and provide sound blocking in the run game to keep their offense flowing on Sunday. Hockenson’s career is in its nascent stage, but he was drafted to be a difference-maker in big games; he’ll need to be just that against Kansas City.

Quandre Diggs, S

He’s one of the Lions’ surest tacklers, and one of their most dependable leaders on defense. This past Sunday’s performance was not one of his finest, however. Missed tackles were the biggest issue for Diggs, including one on receiver Nelson Agholor, which allowed him to escape his grasp and score a touchdown.

Diggs will be needed close to the line of scrimmage as well as over the top to help quell the Chiefs aerial attack. When he gets his hands on someone, he’ll need to bring them down.
