We are officially on the cusp of the start of the Detroit Lions’ offseason program. SideLion Report offers three storylines to keep track of as players and coaches slowly begin preparing for the 2019 season.
The Detroit Lions will begin their first series of offseason workouts on Monday, the first step towards full fledged for the upcoming 2019 season. With less than two weeks to go before the NFL draft, it will offer the team and observers one last chance at player evaluations before shifting their focus to Nashville on April 25th.
One caveat is necessary to present, though: don’t expect too much out of these sessions. Player attendance at April workouts can be sparse, and very little is revealed in terms of scheme outlook, positional battles and potential breakout candidates.
In reality, the focus is almost exclusively on strength and conditioning. Also, the Lions’ trusty beat writer squad is generally given a limited observation time frame, from a remote vantage point.
