Ranking every Detroit Lions team from the last 25 years (20-16)
20. The 2005 Detroit Lions
Record: 3
- One of many forgettable 5-11 seasons, one which signaled the end of the Steve Mariucci/Joey Harrington era in Detroit
Achievements: 1
- Dominating opening day win over the Packers
- The Ravens were called for 21 penalties against the Lions in Week 5, something I haven’t yet seen before or after
Star Power: 2.5
- CB Dre’ Bly, who was basically “Big Play” before there was Darius Slay
- DT Shaun “Big Baby” Rogers, who was basically “Snacks” before there was Damon Harrison
- QB Joey Harrington, in his final year as a Lion. Harrington may say that his NFL career was a “success”, but try telling that to anyone else in the state of Michigan.
Entertainment Value: 3.5
- The entertainment from 2001 came more from the turmoil off the field than anything that was happening on the field. Steve Mariucci was fired just after the midway point, and Joey Harrington’s career as a Lion reached rock bottom right around the same time
Total Score: 10 out of 40
