Detroit Lions Round 3

Brett Rypien, QB, Boise St., 6-2, 203, 4.86

*Remember that this pick is the one that came to Detroit via the Golden Tate trade, it is not in the Lions fifth slot but the Eagles current17th slot.

Rypien is the nephew of former Washington Redskins quarterback, Mark Rypien. He was ranked in the top ten quarterbacks coming out of high school by Rivals prior to going to Boise State.

He has passed for 13,578 yards in the Mountain West Conference, accumulating 90 touchdowns to 29 interceptions, while completing 64% of his pass attempts for his career. That’s a lot of production but against inferior competition. It would be great to see him play in the Senior Bowl where all of the prospects are upperclassmen and auditioning for the NFL.

Another thing to remember is that with no predraft Combine, bowl games, Senior Bowl, and Pro Days being completed so far we are choosing based off of some guesswork. Rypien may not go this high in a real draft but if the Lions had to draft someone we want readers to have an idea of the kind of player they could get.
