The Detroit Lions Quiz (2010-2017) – Test your fan knowledge!
ANSWER: once again, the Chicago Bears.
As for the other choices, obviously the Lions play plenty of home games at Ford Field. That choice was a no-brainer. The other two incorrect answers both came as a result of severe winter whether, and the Lions lending a helping hand to two teams in need.
For both the Vikings and Bills, weather-related issues in recent years have caused them each to play a “home” game in the Motor City. In 2010, the roof of the Metrodome collapsed, requiring the Vikings to find a temporary spot for Week 14. The eerie video of the inflatable roof dipping and then giving way is still one of my lasting images from that NFL season.
The relocation to Detroit game Ford Field its first ever Monday night game. Ironically, the Lions weren’t part of it. They had to wait one more year for a return to Monday action. The Vikings ended up losing to the the Giants 21-3.
Three years later, a lake-effect snowstorm meant the Bills came out to the midwest during the week of Thanksgiving. Since the Lions weren’t playing until Thursday, Buffalo was able to use the space for another Monday night game. Ford Field was kind to Buffalo, as Jim Schwartz and the Bills picked up their 2nd win of the season in Detroit.
If you recall, this was the same year that Schwartz infamously got carried off the field after beating the Lions as a defensive coordinator. That ended up being the only loss of the season for the Lions at home, as they went 7-1 at Ford Field en route to eleven total wins. Buffalo was a spotless 2-0 at Ford.
Question #4. How many times in the 2010s have the Lions drafted an offensive lineman in the first round?
(a) 1
(b) 2
(c) 4
(d) 6
