Round 2 (pick 51)

Offensive line: Austin Corbett, guard, Geron Christian, tackle

Defensive line: Harrison Phillips, tackle, Dorrance Armstrong, end, Josh Sweat, end

Backs & Receivers: all tight end’s, Kerryon Johnson, running back, Rashaad Penny, running back, DJ Moore, wideout, Christian Kirk, wideout

LB’s: I do not like the linebackers, but if you think it’s a big need, Jerome Baker is a name.

DB’s: Carlton Davis, cornerback, if you want a starter opposite Darius Slay early.

Commentary

Defensive line is still an issue, even if the Lions select and end in round one. They got gashed up the middle due to thin depth at tackle, especially visible after Haloti Ngata went down.

Pick 51 should still fetch a starter, or major contributor somewhere. I tried taking different positions at each place to see what the trade-off’s would produce at other positions. I have to say, the Cardiac Cats have to select their running back by round three.  After that, the pickings are slim.

This would be a great round to go tight end, as they’re all there in round two, usually. The real issue is at running back, however. For sure there are several options in round two, wait until round three and you take a risk of missing out on all of the starter-caliber runners. I’d love to wait and still get Rashaad Penny but I don’t think I’d chance it. Bob Quinn has proven to be a cautious guy, wonder what he does…

My Pick: Kerryon Johnson, running back, just to try it on for size. I have previously advocated for Penny or Chubb.
