Cornerback (6)
- Darius Slay
- Rashean Mathis
- Bill Bentley
- Nevin Lawson
- Cassius Vaughn
- Chris Greenwood
Cornerback has easily been the hardest position to predict for the Lions this year. With so much unproven talent, it’s uncertain who will fill out the last several spots behind Slay and Mathis. Bentley is considered the starting nickelback, but even he’s had a rough camp so far. If Lawson wasn’t dealing with his rookie mistakes, he’d have won the starting nickel job by now.
Cassius Vaughn has done a solid overall job during camp and he is a near lock as a backup corner, and the final spot will most likely be fought between Chris Greenwood, Jonte Green, and Drayton Florence. A couple of weeks ago I would have given this to Green, but after being torched several times by the Raiders this past Friday, his chances are looking slimmer.
Greenwood looked solid against the Raiders and has likely pushed himself into one of the final spots on the roster. Stay tuned as the competition for the last few spots will continue to churn throughout the final two games.
