Cap Charge: $3,683,333
Cap Savings: $2,016,666
This is probably the least likely cut to happen for simple fact that they don’t have a real replacement for him on the roster. Jones was slated in as the starter last season and will probably be penciled in going into training camp. The only real way I see Jones being cut outright is if he isn’t fully healed from his ruptured patellar tendon injury.
Possible Replacement: Devin Taylor
The Lions have little depth behind Ziggy Ansah and Jason Jones, but Devin Taylor could challenge Jones throughout training camp for the starting spot. Taylor has gained weight this offseason, and with the defense changing the scheme up this season, he could begin to see a larger role even with Jones still on the roster.
