Sunday’s game between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers may not have the sex appeal it figured to have before the season began but that isn’t stopping FOX from giving it top billing this week.

The network’s top broadcasting team of Joe Buck, Troy Aikman and sideline reporter Pam Oliver will be in Detroit this weekend to call all the action. Buck may be criticized by some fans but he has been a mainstay as the lead play by play man for FOX.

Beyond the broadcaster assignment, FOX shows the Packers-Lions matchup respect by making the game available to a large portion of the country. The game will be shown throughout NFC North country, across the great plains, over the Rockies and into the Pacific Northwest and even Southern California.

Fans in the Green Bay market will also get Cleveland at Dallas during the early time slot on CBS. That game will be called by Greg Gumbel and Dan Dierdorf. The Green Bay and Detroit markets are scheduled to receive San Diego at Denver called by Kevin Harlan and Solomon Wilcots for CBS in the late time slot.

It has taken 10 games, but the Detroit Lions have apparently solved what had been one of the few weaknesses of their offense.

For much of this season, the Lions couldn’t beg, borrow or steal a conversion on third down. Through mid-November, the team’s conversion rate was the worst in the league.

If it is Aaron Rodgers, he will reach the heights of former Packer great Brett Favre.  Make no mistake, if Aaron Rodgers wins the Super Bowl for Packer Nation it will be significant and for multiple reasons.  With another Super Bowl win, Ben Roethlisberger cements a winning legacy with his third Super Bowl win in seven seasons.  Three Super Bowl wins puts Ben in very lofty company.
