ESPN NFL draft gurus Mel Kiper and Todd McShay released their updated mock drafts today and they show a striking similarity as far as the Lions are concerned. Who do they think the Lions will take with the 13th overall pick? Prince Amukamara.

McShay goes so far as to say the pick represents a “dream scenario” for the Lions. Kiper voices some concern over Amukamara’s fit into the Lions’ defensive scheme but feels that the combination of talent and need squashes what ever questions may exist.

It is no secret that the Lions need a lot of help at linebacker an in the secondary. Their best opportunity to address one of these needs comes at pick 13 in the first round of the NFL draft in April. A lot of speculation is circling about the Lions picking an offensive lineman but the defensive back seven remains their biggest immediate concern.

ESPN NFL draft experts Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay went into the draft lab to talk about some of this year’s prospects in the back seven. Lions fans should be familiar with names like Jimmy Smith and Akeem Ayers by now. Both guys get a mention in the draft lab video that was released today.
