If you’re not already sick of Thom Brennaman, you likely will be by this Sunday afternoon. FOX Sports is sending Brennaman, along with broadcast partner Brian Billick, to Green Bay to call the game between the Packers and Lions. This duo also worked the Lions games against the Vikings and Raiders meaning last week’s game on CBS will be the only reprieve in the last four weeks.

It wouldn’t be so much of a problem if it wasn’t for the displays of anti-Lions rhetoric and a general lack of football knowledge. It was Brennaman that questioned why the Lions weren’t attempting a field goal when faced with a fourth down despite trailing by 13 points late in the game in Oakland. Fortunately, Brian Billick is there to whap Brennaman upside the head when necessary. Alas, if only he could do it to knock Brennaman off his soap box from time to time.

Did you enjoy Thom Brennaman’s diatribes during the Lions-Vikings game last week? If so, I have some good news. He’ll be in Oakland to broadcast the game between the Lions and Raiders on Sunday.

Brennaman spent most of the broadcast searching for an opportunity to interject the talking points he had obviously prepared ahead of time. Yes, the Lions have done a lot to hurt their reputation but rather than letting the game against the Vikings play out to confirm or disprove that reputation, Brennaman was quick with a “FINALLY!” exclamation when Stephen Tulloch was called for a personal foul when he hit Christian Ponder during an interception return.

Brian Billick has been fair to the Lions in the post-Millen years, hopefully he can keep Brennaman from getting too giddy every time a flag is thrown against the Lions on Sunday.

This weekend’s matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions might not be one of the weekend’s best but the Lions place in the playoff race does make it relevant. As such, FOX sports is sending one of their better broadcast teams to Detroit.

Thom Brennaman will be on the play by play with former Baltimore Ravens coach Brian Billick adding insight and analysis. The tandem is listed as FOX’s number three team behind Buck/Aikman and Albert/Johnston/Siragusa.
