The college bowl system may be watered down but it does provide for a final look at a number of draft-eligible players on a nationals stage. Here is the bowl schedule for today as well as a look at a few players that could be on the Lions’ radar come April.

AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl
Ohio vs. Louisiana-Monroe
2 p.m. ET, ESPN

Matt Weller, K, Ohio – The Independence Bowl doesn’t feature much in the way of 2013 NFL draft prospects but one guy that could get a look at the NFL is Ohio kicker Matt Weller. He won’t be drafted but could land with someone as an undrafted free agent. That’s the route most kickers take and you never know what might happen with a solid camp performance. Weller showed good accuracy from 40-49 yards out this season, helping land him on the All-MAC second team.

Russell Athletic Bowl
Rutgers vs. Virginia Tech
5:30 p.m. ET, ESPN

Khaseem Greene, OLB, Rutgers – The Detroit Lions are in desperate need of playmakers on defense and Khaseem Greene could give them an instant upgrade in that regard at outside linebacker. Greene arrived at Rutgers as a safety but outgrew the position and developed into a two-time Big East Defensive Player of the Year award winner. He could be in play for the Lions in the 2nd round.

Logan Ryan, CB, Rutgers – The fourth-year junior hasn’t decided if he will enter the draft but if he does, he could warrant consideration in the 2nd round.

Corey Fuller, WR, Virginia Tech – Fuller went to Kansas to run track but ended up at Virginia Tech playing football and could next find himself in the NFL. A big 2012 season has him garnering NFL consideration and he could become an option for a team looking for a wide receiver as early as the 5th round.

Meineke Car Care of Texas Bowl
Minnesota vs. Texas Tech
9 p.m. ET, ESPN

Cody Davis, SS, Texas Tech – Daivs is a physical tackling machine but has some questions to answer regarding his coverage ability at the next level. 7th round

MarQueis Gray, WR, Minnesota – He may not have lived up to the hype coming out of Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis as a highly rated recruit but MarQueis Gray is an intriguing prospect nonetheless. His size and athletecism suggests he could be an offensive weapon for an NFL team willing to take a chance on a relatively raw prospect. Gray bounced around between quarterback and wide receiver at the University of Minnesota and may not finish the draft process as anything more than an undrafted free agent. Still, it would be hard to see a scenario in which someone doesn’t give him a chance in camp.
