According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, one option could be former Michigan Wolverine Steve Breaston, who spent the last two season with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Plain Dealer also lists interest from the Browns, Steelers, Titans and Cowboys.

Breaston had a breakout season in his second year in the league with 77 catches for 1,006 yards and three touchdowns for the Arizona Cardinals. That level of production ticked down in the years that followed but remained amazingly consistent in the neighborhood of about 55 catches for 720 yards. However, he’s coming off a season in which he caught just seven passes for 74 yards.

If he is truly an option, it may be on the cheap. Breaston also brings experience in the return game, another area the Lions need help, but it has been a couple season since he was consistently used as a punt or kick returner.

While Mario Manningham has slowly been slipping down the depth charts in New York, he might have given himself a jet-propelled kick start into his offseason of free agency—and perhaps a return to Michigan makes sense.
