Sunday’s game between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers may not have the sex appeal it figured to have before the season began but that isn’t stopping FOX from giving it top billing this week.

The network’s top broadcasting team of Joe Buck, Troy Aikman and sideline reporter Pam Oliver will be in Detroit this weekend to call all the action. Buck may be criticized by some fans but he has been a mainstay as the lead play by play man for FOX.

Beyond the broadcaster assignment, FOX shows the Packers-Lions matchup respect by making the game available to a large portion of the country. The game will be shown throughout NFC North country, across the great plains, over the Rockies and into the Pacific Northwest and even Southern California.

Fans in the Green Bay market will also get Cleveland at Dallas during the early time slot on CBS. That game will be called by Greg Gumbel and Dan Dierdorf. The Green Bay and Detroit markets are scheduled to receive San Diego at Denver called by Kevin Harlan and Solomon Wilcots for CBS in the late time slot.

Head to the506.com to check out the complete coverage maps for week 11.

It’s easy to tell what a network thinks of an NFL matchup by the broadcast team they send to cover the game. No matter what you think of Joe Buck, when you hear his voice calling a game you know it is the best game FOX has to offer that week.

So, what does FOX think about the game between the Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars? Not much.

Ron Pitts is set to call the action and be joined in the FOX broadcast booth by former Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz. The pair checks in at the bottom of the network’s seven team broadcasting roster. Martz is the network’s newest game day analyst while Pitts has been with FOX for the duration of their 19-year coverage of NFL football.

Fans looking to watch the game live had better live within the teams’ local areas or have DirecTV’s Sunday Ticket package. Lions at Jaguars is currently only scheduled to be shown over the air to fans in the Eastern portion of Michigan’s upper peninsula as well as most of the lower peninsula and the greater Jacksonville area. Television coverage maps are available at the506.com.

If you’re not already sick of Thom Brennaman, you likely will be by this Sunday afternoon. FOX Sports is sending Brennaman, along with broadcast partner Brian Billick, to Green Bay to call the game between the Packers and Lions. This duo also worked the Lions games against the Vikings and Raiders meaning last week’s game on CBS will be the only reprieve in the last four weeks.

It wouldn’t be so much of a problem if it wasn’t for the displays of anti-Lions rhetoric and a general lack of football knowledge. It was Brennaman that questioned why the Lions weren’t attempting a field goal when faced with a fourth down despite trailing by 13 points late in the game in Oakland. Fortunately, Brian Billick is there to whap Brennaman upside the head when necessary. Alas, if only he could do it to knock Brennaman off his soap box from time to time.
