The Lions will be in Chicago this weekend but that doesn’t mean Ford Field will be empty (at least not completely empty).

Ticket sales for Michigan State’s game hosted by Florida Atlantic at Ford Field are reportedly just over 25,000, less than half of the stadium’s capacity. While the preliminary attendance numbers sound disappointing, Florida Atlantaic athletic director Craig Angelos stated that FAU will more than cover the expenses of moving their home game out of the state of Florida.

It remains to be seen if lackluster attendance for this game will hurt Ford Field’s chances at hosting marquee college football events such as future Big Ten championship games. See Ticketmaster for ticket information.

In a time that is economically and politically frustrating , not to mention depressing, Coach Tom Izzo has given us something special.

Around 6 years ago they Announced that the NCAA Final Four would be at Ford Field; It seemed so very far away and distant. Fortunately for this state and city being granted this honor, we have something special about 75 miles from here… We have Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartans Mens Basketball team. 5 Final Fours in 10 years and one National Title.

Don’t get it twisted, going to the Final Four is a *BIG* Deal. Schools put up a banner when they achieve it. You get a trophy for winning your bracket. You don’t put up a banner for losing a Rosebowl or Football National Title; Going all the way up to the Final Four is one of the hardest things to do in college sports, PERIOD.

From this point on, it’s all gravy.

And it’s *Something for everyone to enjoy*. It’s for East Lansing. It’s for Detroit. It’s for all of us. Not only will a National Audience get to see how beautiful a facility Ford Field is (as our Lions never fetch a National TV Game), the entire sports watching nation will hear the roar for the home team. I expect a churning, screaming sea of Green and White. I’m excited!

So for this week, you’re all welcome to the family.

This week, we’re all Spartans.
GO GREEN

GO WHITE

Reflect on what it feels like to be one of the greatest College Basketball coaches in history Coach Izzo… You deserve it.

So we’re doing a network-wide 64 crap head tournament of all the disasters that have been drafted by the teams that we cover.

For a Lions fan, this is indeed a daunting task.

Do I go with the guys that Millen drafted and they aren’t even playing pro-ball anymore? Or do I go with the guys that we had a lot riding on and they completely let us down?

Seeing as I’m competing with the crappiest of the crappy, I’m going to go with the biggest dirty flops.

Charles Rogers: Number One on our “three years, three wide receivers”, Charles showed a LOT Of promise in the preseason and first 5 games of his rookie season. He was the only guy that would hold onto the ball for Joey Harrington (a draft bust honorable mention), so he got fed the ball constantly. Unfortunately he busted his shoulder, an injury from which he never recovered. The next year, an all healed up Rogers had THE EXACT SAME INJURY OCCUR against the Bears, ending his season right there. From there, his career was over, he was suspended for illegal substance use and the Lions cut ties with him. I’m a Spartan and this one was close to my heart; I wish Charles could have cleaned up his act. I think being a Lion and staying too close to the guys he grew up with in Flint was an issue. Had he been in another city on another team, things might have worked out better for Mr. Rogers.

Mike Williams: The second Williams, arguably the worst draft pick Millen made, 3rd in the ‘three years, three wide receivers’ stint. He lost his appeal to play in the NFL and had to sit out for a year, but supposedly he was working with Chris Carter of the Vikings fame. Mike was a disaster from the get go, he was flat out fat and lacked ability. Two coaching regimes couldn’t get a damn thing out of him. If Mke Martz is giving the 2 String QB touches at WR over you, YOU SUCK! You heard that Mike Williams?! You SUCK. We could’ve had Matt Leinart over you. Yeah, he sucks too, BUT NOT AS MUCH AS YOU.
