The Lions have held the 20th pick or better every year since taking Johnnie Morton with the 21st pick in 1994. That will change this year as the Lions are guaranteed to pick no earlier than 21st since the first 20 draft positions are filled by non-playoff teams. Playoff teams that lose in the Wild Card round will be assigned picks 21-24 based on regular season record and strength of schedule. Teams that lose in the divisional round will pick in the 25-28 range while conference runner-ups will get picks 29 and 30. The Super Bowl champion will pick 32nd with the loser picking 31st.
