Remember that anonymous NFL general manager who ripped the Detroit Lions earlier this year? It prompted a response from Detroit Lions center Dominic Raiola, who didn’t appreciate the anonymous nature of such criticism, that apparently made it back to the GM in question. Well, he had a few choice words to fire back at Raiola through Pro Football Weekly:

“I saw (Lions C) Dominic Raiola called me out, asking who the aimless, anonymous GM is who criticized the great Lions. ‘Who is this person?’ It’s the guy who rejects you everytime he watches your tape and thinks you are a complete fraud. It’s the guy who didn’t think you could play when you came out of college and still doesn’t think you can play now. … If he spent as much time working the other muscles in his body as he does his jaw, he might have had the chance to be an average backup. You can put that in print.”

PFW certainly did put it in print; without revealing the general manager’s identity once again…

I put this rival GM on par with an “internet tough guy” who says big things behind a cloak of anonymity on message boards when the first comments came out and this latest quote only strengthens the comparison. This is how an NFL general manager acts?

At this point it is probably best that his identity remain hidden. Perhaps he has built successful teams, but the comments released through Pro Football Weekly make it hard to respect such a “man”.
