Lawrence Jackson Invites You to Join Him in Giving Back

Lions defensive end Lawrence Jackson is using his platform as an NFL player to help others and he invites you to join his efforts. The goal is to raise $5,000 for clean water projects in developing countries.

LoJack has a webpage set up for the effort, he has the following to say there:

Water is such an incredible necessity in life, and it’s important to me that more people are provided with this life source.

I’m excited to share my day and team together with some incredibly generous people to bring water to developing nations.

As if helping a professional football player raise money for a noble cause wasn’t enough, Jackson is offering tickets to Saturday’s game and a meet and greet to one contributor. He put the following on twitter today:

Help a Local Band Get to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

The Plymouth Canton Educational Park Marching band is one of Michigan’s finest and they need your help. The band has been received the prestigious honor of being selected to travel to New York City to participate in the 2011 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. According to parade organizers this is likely the first time a band from Michigan will participate in the event as they have no records to say otherwise.

As you can imagine, there is a significant cost associated with transporting a couple hundred kids and equipment. While the number of worthy causes will always exceed an individual’s ability to give, the good news here is that Pepsi is willing to front the cash and all you have to do is vote. How much does the band stand to gain? $25,000.

SideLion Report is a proud member of the FanSided Network. I have been very impressed with the way FanSided conducts business from the very first day I joined their family as a contributing writer at their Detroit Tigers blog, Motor City Bengals. It is my pleasure to announce FanSided’s latest noble venture: a charity drive to support the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
