]]> It is officially April in the D, which means four things: The Tigers season has started, the Red Wings are nearing playoff time, the Pistons season is mercifully coming to an end and Fox Sports Detroit has a new anthem to be played several hundred times per day for 30 days.

This year marks the fourth year of the April in the D campaign. It was widely accepted in its inaugural year thanks to the rock flavored theme from Blacklist Union but took a turn for the worse in year two with much less edgy song from The Good Luck Joes.

Any fan in the Detroit area that watches games on Fox Sports Detroit will get plenty of exposure to the 2011 winner from B-DAB. Here it is anyway:

]]> The Detroit Lions are the only local major sports team that isn’t in-season in the month of April. Even so, I thought it should be brought to our loyal SLR readers’ attention that Fox Sports Detroit’s contest to select the 2011 April in the D theme song is down to three finalists.

]]> Snow may have pounded most of Michigan yesterday but that doesn’t change the fact that spring is right around the corner and you know what that means: April in the D.

Fox Sports Detroit created a local phenomenon with their first April in the D in 2008. The theme for that edition was performed by Blacklist union and was generally well accepted as the anthem of the April in Detroit (and the state of Michigan by extension).
