I ranked all of my all Detroit Lions keepsakes and compiled them into a Top 5 memorabilia list. Which nostalgic items make it onto your list?

This past week has been my annual summer vacation back to Northern Michigan. Looking through a bunch of my old stuff, I started taking inventory of all my Lions memorabilia through the years. With that of course came the next logical question: which of these keepsakes has meant the most to me?

I narrowed it down into a Top 5 list, of all my Detroit Lions-related possessions, past, present, and gone but never forgotten. Everything on here has been used and abused, worn and torn over the years, and that’s what makes the most prized pieces stand out to me.

I’ve never been into display cases and treating my collectibles like museum exhibits. I also only had a brief stretch where I cared about autographs, so everything on here is ‘worthless’ in terms of money.

That clearly isn’t the point here. This is a Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields type of Detroit Lions nostalgia-fest, not a ‘cool story bro’ contest. I invite everyone to add their own additions to the comment section when finished reading.

Before I get to my Top 5, I’ll also note a few honorable mentions for notable memorabilia that couldn’t quite earn a spot on the list.

  • Lions 2000 NFL Draft T-Shirt–Seriously? Who gets t-shirts made to commemorate the occasion of hiring Stockar McDougle to work for them?
  • Lions Foam Finger–I hate the way foam fingers feel as you slide your hand into them. However, this was the giveaway at the 2010 Thanksgiving game against New England. As abrasive as that foam feels against the skin, this was my first live Lions game, so I held onto it.
  • 1995 Team Media Guide

    —  I can still name 20 players off the top of my head from that team. That’s all you need to know about amount of the time I spent poring through this book. My brother thinks it was a different year though, and I have no way to prove it.
