Ameer Abdullah has been pretty tight lipped about the rehab on his injured foot, an injury that kept him sidelined for most of last season. The Lions running back has said he intends to be a full participant in the Lions off-season workouts but the team has been careful to manage expectations.

However those are just words. The best evidence of rehab success is always performance and Ameer Abdullah gave fans a glimpse at his progress on a recent Instagram post.

It is excellent seeing Abdullah run at full print on the tread mill. It is reminiscent of some of the big play ability he showed early in 2016.

A healthy Ameer Abdullah would be a welcome addition to an offense that struggled to run the ball last season. It also might help the Lions better plan their draft strategy. Remember the Lions have vowed to upgrade the running game in 2017.

"“Listen, I’m always looking to upgrade, That’s what my job is. I think the players understand that.“I think the number of new players that we brought in this year and the number of guys we tried out and worked out, I think it was eye-opening to a lot of people. My eyes are always open. If we can get somebody better, then great.” – Bob Quinn via Detroit Free Press"

Even if Abdullah returns as the starter, expect the Lions to add depth to its corp of running backs. Also expect the Lions to get some help on the O-line to open more holes for the fellas toting the rock.

What do you think Lions fans?  Are you confident that Abduallah will return to full strength next season? Should the Lions draft a running back just in case the former Cornhusker goes down with injury again? Sound off in the comments below.
