Free safety Glover Quin is having a Pro Bowl-caliber season for the 9-7, Wild Card bound Detroit Lions. While it’s no secret that Quin is a great player, he’s also a very ambitious entrepreneur. His recent work with PeerWell Rehab is something Quin hopes will help improve how everyday people recover from surgeries.  I spoke to Quin about the rehabilitation technology and how he got involved with this innovative app that launched this morning.

Matt: Tell me a little bit about how you came across this new ReHab technology and what it’s all about.

Glover Quin: I have been working with PeerWell since they helped me prepare for ankle surgery. I was so impressed with the product and my results, I decided to get more involved. been focused on PreHab – or preparing for surgery. Now we are launching ReHab to help patients recover from surgery.

Matt: Is this true that this technology can detect rehab progress using just a smartphone?

Glover Quin: That’s right. Up until today, tracking motion has been limited to counting steps. PeerWell is the first company to bring range of motion tracking to the smartphone. This is very important because today people have to rely on getting their range of motion measured by a physical therapist. Now they can track their progress from anywhere. It keeps people motivated and involved to get through rehab.

Matt: Have you worked with any other NFL players or Pro athletes on this new development?

Glover Quin: Arian Foster has also been involved in working with PeerWell on its PreHab-to-ReHab platform.

Matt: What do you hope to accomplish with this new rehab innovation?

Glover Quin: There are 50 million surgeries that happen every year. Professional football players get access to the best medical care and equipment. I’m excited to work with PeerWell to make pro-athlete level care available to everyday patients.
