Has DE Ezekiel Ansah’s tread as one of the premier pass rushers in the NFL made him the face of the Detroit Lions franchise?

Fan favorite DE Ezekiel “Ziggy” Ansah joined the Detroit Lions organization in 2013. Though his tenure as a NFL pro has only been 3 seasons, his experience playing alongside former Lions DT Nick Fairley and DT Ndamukong Suh has allowed Ansah to acquire a lot of experience with some top tier defensive players.

Not only does Ansah discipline himself with a delectable and nutritional Whole Foods diet, his meek persona adds as a manifestation of his humble beginnings  in Acura, Ghana. Besides all of this, there’s plenty of reason to accredit Ansah for showing himself dedicated to the productivity and success of the Lions defense. The only question now is:

has he become the face of the Detroit Lions franchise?

I’ll tell you why I think so.

In the newly formatted Pro Bowl, where two NFL Hall of fame players select from a pool of NFL elites, last year’s annual game featured only two Detroit Lions on the roster. Recent retiree WR Calvin Johnson and Lions DE Ezekiel Ansah were among that number. Not known for heavy trash talking and taunting, Ansah recorded a quiet 14.5 sacks last season.

At 6’5, Ansah has a slender like TE build that allows him to gap rush the Guard and Tackle position to disrupt run plays, while his agility allows him to hunt down QB’s during passing situations.

That was a hefty increase from 2014 where he registered just 8, especially considering that he was no longer accompanied by Ndamukong Suh (who plays for the Miami Dolphins) and all-pro Lions LB De’Andre Levy who sat out the majority of last season due to injury. At 6’5, Ansah has a slender like TE build that allows him to gap rush the Guard and Tackle position to disrupt run plays, while his agility allows him to hunt down QB’s during passing situations. The only media exposure Ansah has to date is the hilarious Hungry Howies commercial that begin airing during the Fall last season. The scene

depicted Ansah as a subtle individual who is strikingly intimidating.

As mentioned in my previous article “Martha Ford Can Trust New GM Bob Quinn,” the direction of the Detroit Lions organization has been deconstructed and turned from a team revolved around star players into a collective environment revolved around dedication and humility. Ansah, as stated earlier in this article, has a heart full of humility. He even attended to a needy citizen who had his trombone instrumental stolen by hoodlums in 2014. Observe the video below.

If there is any man on the Lions roster suitable enough to assume the leadership role for the Detroit Lions over the next several seasons it is undoubtedly  DE Ezekiel Ansah. The suspense revolved around what type of Lions team we will see in the near future is only beginning to heighten as the 2016 NFL season approaches. We cannot wait to see what the NFC North most losing team has conspired to redeem their shameful rapport. Certainly, Ansah will be looking to contribute to the cause.
