Matt Millen’s recent interview with the Kyle Meinke of MLive shed some light on his feelings about the city of Detroit and it’s rabid football fans.

More from SideLion Report

Millen was relieved of his duties as Detroit Lions CEO after presiding over the worst decade in team history.  The included an 0-16 season after which fans ran him out of city and back into the broadcast booth.  With all the hate flowing from Detroit in Matt Millen’s direction you’d think he would hate the city right back. In fact it’s the opposite.  Millen says he actually roots for the Lions week in and week out.  He will have to temper his love for the team when he returns to Ford Field as a member of a FOX NFL broadcast team this fall.

"“The fans aren’t thrilled with me, but I thought they were awesome fans because I know they want to win and it’s important to them,” Millen told MLive.com during a recent phone interview.“Those fans are phenomenal up there. I want them to win — that place will go nuts when they start winning. And they will.”"

Matt Millen made millions as the Detroit Lions CEO but one place you won’t find him as in the prestigious tunnel club recently developed for Detroit’s high rollers.  The “tunnel club” will include field level seating and the opportunity to see the team in the tunnel before the game.  Seats are only $32,000! A bargain for anyone with that kind of money burning a hole in their pocket.

"The Lions announced today a new partnership with MGM Detroit and an almost $2-million renovation to Ford Field that will give some fans an up-close view of players entering and exiting the locker room.Dubbed the “Tunnel Club,” the Lions are selling 70 field-level seats near the west (tunnel-side) end zone that includes access to a new luxury club area being built in the bowels of Ford Field."

Speaking of the field there are some that think Theo Riddick should be on it.  That is the opinion of back-up QB Dan Orlovsky who at one time predicted that Riddick would have a breakout season.  Riddick will definitely be on the roster but the time he sees carrying the ball will be limited after the Lions drafted cornhusker Ameer Abdullah to give the running game a boost. But even with a log jam at running back Riddick will likely still find a role on special teams and in special scenarios. Maybe even as a receiver out of the backfield.

"“Theo’s too good to not put on the field,” Orlovsky said after the first day of organized team activities today. “Theo has stuff that you can’t coach, that you can’t teach, that you’re born from God with. He just has an ability to get open better than everyone else.”“I think Theo will probably have, like, 60 catches,” Orlovsky said. “He’s a pretty good player.”"
