Chris Greenwood has been the latest cut for the Detroit Lions as the deadline approaches, according to Dave Birkett.
Greenwood’s roster spot was thought to be safe after the release of Jonte Green earlier this week, but it seems as though the Lions are comfortable with keeping five cornerbacks on the roster.
Pro Football Focus gave Greenwood a -2.0 overall grade throughout the course of the preseason, and it was pretty clearly that he’s still not ready to play on Sundays for the time being.
Unfortunately for Greenwood, he was never fully able to develop into the player Mayhew believed he could turn into. This was mostly due to the constant injuries Greenwood sustained.
Greenwood is practice squad eligible, so he would likely have to duke it out with fellow cornerback Mohammed Seisay for a spot there, unless the Lions decide they want to keep both.
There are 9 more moves to be made between now and the 4 p.m. deadline.
