Detroit Lions Roster Cuts: George Winn Waived

George Winn has been waived by the Lions, as reported by Dave Birkett. After Mikel Leshoure’s release earlier today, it was thought that maybe Winn’s chances were rising, but unfortunately that is not the case.

He will likely be selected as a practice squad member if he is not claimed, however, and the Lions will most likely keep two fullbacks on the team in Jed Collins and Montell Owens.

Both Winn and Leshoure were both given plenty of opportunities to show why they belong on this team, but neither were that spectacular in the backfield.

Winn can offer a lot to this Lions roster if he can clean up his ball security issues because he’s already a stud on special teams.

With this roster decision, the Lions now have 11 cuts to be made by the 4 p.m. deadline.
