The NFL deadline for rosters to cut down to 75 players isn’t until tomorrow afternoon but the Detroit Lions have made their moves.
G Alex Bullard, G A.J. Dalton, DT Greg Hickman, RB Steven Miller, DE Kris Redding and WR Conner Vernon were released over the weekend while TJ Jones was moved to the reserve/PUP list. That brought the roster down from 89 (no one was signed after Drayton Florence was released last week) to 82.
Today, the Lions made additional cuts with FB Chad Abram, P Drew Butler, QB James Franklin, CB Jonte Green, CB Aaron Hester and K Giorgio Tavecchio not lasting until the fourth preseason game. The last move to get down to the 75 limit was moving DeJon Gomes to IR.
The Lions take on the Buffalo Bills Thursday night in the preseason finale. They will have more decisions to make following that game as rosters will need to be trimmed down to the final 53.
