Detroit Lions fans hoping the team would be able to sign free agent cornerback Brandon Flowers are sure to be disappointed. Flowers has reportedly agreed to terms with the San Diego Chargers.

Flowers talk rippled through the Lions fanbase when he was released by the Kansas City Chiefs the same day the Lions parted with Chris Houston. Reports listing the Lions among a group of early potential suitors, followed by a report saying the Lions were “seriously considering making a run” at Flowers only fueled whatever fire burned.
Flowers struggled with the Chiefs as they asked their corners to play more press coverage and wasn’t happy about getting moved into the slot so he may never have been much of a realistic possibility for the Lions anyway.
Add in that the first free agent visit he made was to San Diego and his agreeing to terms with the Chargers is no surprise.
Financial terms have not be announced, but the Lions have just under $2 million in available cap space – not likely enough to have been a player for Flowers financially.
