2014 NFL Draft: Detroit Lions Select Nevin Lawson

The pick is in, the Detroit Lions have made their fourth selection of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Who: Nevin Lawson
What: Cornerback
Where: Utah State
When: Round 4, Pick 33 (133 overall)
Why: The need at corner has been addressed by selecting one of the draft’s most physical corners. It’s a reach according to some scouting reports you’ll find around the web but the Lions must like the physical nature with which Lawson plays. At 5’9″, Lawson doesn’t fit the big corner profile the Lions have gravitated towards in recent years but he is 190 pounds and plays bigger than his height. He’ll have to learn how to play on the edge physically without going over it to be successful in the NFL.
