The pick is in, the Detroit Lions have made their fifth selection of the 2014 NFL Draft.
Who: Larry Webster
What: Defensive End
Where: Bloomsburg University
When: Round 4, Pick 36 (136 overall)
Why: The Lions get a developmental pass rusher with size, athleticism and an NFL bloodline. His father, also Larry Webster, was an NFL defensive lineman in the 90s and early 2000s. He was a top combine performer for defensive ends at the combine in the 40-yard dash and vertical jump, no surprise considering he comes from a basketball background before picking up football a couple years ago. At 6’6″ and 252 pounds, Webster has room to bulk up and will need to as he adjusts to a higher level of competition. The Lions should have a pretty good idea what they are getting into in terms of Webster as a project – they hosted him for a visit during the pre-draft process.
