NFL Schedule Leak Says Lions to Host MNF in Week One

The official release of the Detroit Lions 2014 schedule is still a few hours away but one important piece may have been revealed through a leak.

New York radio station WFAN has posted the leaked New York Giants schedule and includes a week one trip to Detroit on Monday Night Football.

The Giants will open the season on Monday night, Sept. 8 in Detroit on Monday Night Football and then face a very difficult stretch starting in Week 9 against Indianapolis on Nov. 3, at Super Bowl champion Seattle on Nov. 9, and then back-to-back home games against San Francisco on Nov. 16, and a prime time game against Dallas on Nov. 23, WFAN’s Mike Francesa learned on Wednesday.

That may create a problem considering the Detroit Tigers are also scheduled to host a game that night. Last year, the Baltimore Orioles were unwilling to move up a game to allow the Baltimore Ravens to continue the trend of the first Thursday night game being hosted by the defending Super Bowl champion.

The NFL and MLB surely have been in communication regarding the Lions-Tigers conflict if this leak turns out to be true. It makes sense that a change to the Tigers schedule would be announced later so as to not preempt the NFL’s schedule release.
