Detroit Lions Week One Favorites In Way Too Early Betting Line

The release of the 2014 NFL Schedule was just hours ago but the fine folks in Las Vegas have already gone about the business of setting early betting lines.

Teams are barely into their offseason programs and the 2014 draft hasn’t even taken place yet but that won’t stop the sports books from taking the money of fans willing to plop down some cash on a game that is more than four months away.

Will Brinson of CBS Sports took it a step further by giving full breakdown analysis on each of the early lines. With the Lions early four point favorites over the Giants, Brinson offered the following commentary.

Lot of faith in Jim Caldwell here. Or, I suppose, a lot of faith in Matthew Stafford finding Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush doing what he does. I might like the Lions more here if they add another wideout, even if that’s not necessarily the smart move long term. The Giants are just hard to trust with Eli Manning struggling the way he did last year and Nicks departed after a disappointing season. Four’s a lot unless you think Caldwell calms this team down out of the gates.
Early Pick: Giants +4
