Jared Allen Stays in NFC North, Signing with Chicago Bears

The Minnesota Vikings decided not to re-sign Jared Allen but that doesn’t mean the Detroit Lions will avoid seeing him twice each year. Allen had been courted by the likes of the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys but, in a surprising move, has agreed to a deal with the Chicago Bears.

Swapping out an increasingly ineffective Julius Peppers for Jared Allen is a sure-upgrade for the Bears defense and another headache for the Lions offense to worry about when facing their rivals from Chicago.

Allen compiled two sacks, two hits and four hurries rushing Matthew Stafford in two games last year. I’m sure Stafford, like most Lions fans, enjoyed the thought of Allen leaving the NFC North but that isn’t happening.

The Bears added Lamarr Houston and former Lions defensive end Willie Young earlier in free agency as they look to revamp their pass rush.

This is why not getting Suh signed to an extension means you missed out on one of the best DEs in the business. You are right, as he will be a headache for the Lions for the next few years. Luckily, the Bears offense is just so-so.

Just so-so???? The Bears offense ranked second in scoring last season behind only the Peyton Manning Denver Broncos, and it was there first season in Marc Trestman’s Offense. You can expect to see significant improvements in both there passing attack and running game with some continuity in the system and team.( All 11 starters are returning) hate to break it to you buddy but not only do Da Bears have a great Offense but with the improvements Emery has made this off season on Defense, my Bears should not only be competing for a NFC North title but the NFC crown if this defense clicks!
