After a bit of a mix up regarding whether the Detroit Lions had completed or were just close to completing a deal with Golden Tate, the deal is officially done. Tate has even tweeted about it already:
Wow I'm officially a Detroit #Lion. Extremely excited about the opportunity to grow with this organization.

Per ESPN’s Josina Anderson, the five-year deal totals $31 million with $13.25 million of that total guaranteed.
Golden Tate to me just now: "Yes I am taking the deal (with the Lions). It is a 5-year deal for $31M and $13.25M guaranteed."

Those numbers come in a bit lower than former agent Joel Corry predicted in a recent article for CBSSports.com. There he predicted Tate would receive a five-year deal worth $35 Million and $17.5 million in guaranteed money.
It is likely the contract is structured so that the cap hit is lower for 2014 before rising in future years. This is the strategy the Lions used to make a splash in free agency last year despite limited cap space.
