It is rare for Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew to address the media. Even as the Lions fired Jim Schwartz and hired Jim Caldwell, Mayhew left much of the public speaking to Tom Lewand.
However, Mayhew has a history of speaking at the NFL Combine and is scheduled to do so again in 2014.
The NFL released the schedule of club personnel media availability and Mayhew, as well as Jim Caldwell, are scheduled to speak.
Caldwell is scheduled to meet with the media at noon on Thursday. Mayhew’s 15 minute session is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
These media sessions likely won’t be very in depth as the early stage of the draft process makes it difficult to comment too much and tampering rules may mean specifics regarding free agency will be hard to come by. But Caldwell and Mayhew may offer more insight into their plans on the field and in the personnel department in preparation for the 2014 season. Stay tuned, we’ll bring you the info after each media session.
