The Detroit Lions will have plenty of quarterbacks coaches, the question is, will they have one whose sole focus is on the position?
New head coach Jim Caldwell and offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi come with extensive NFL experience as quarterbacks coaches. The thinking has been that the position goes unfilled following the dismissal of Todd Downing, while Caldwell and Lombardi handle the duties.
Lombardi spoke today and indicated that not only would he like a quarterback coach, the Lions are looking to hire one.
Lombardi said the team will hire a quarterback coach. "I'd certainly like one."

One name that's been mentioned as potential QB coach for Lions is Broncos assistant Jim Bob Cooter.

It is interesting to note that the coaches page of the team’s official website has seen names come and go as positions are made available then filled. That included a spot for a quaterback coach that just needed a name added in after Downing was removed, but pulling up the page today shows that a quarterback coach position isn’t even listed.
