Dominic Raiola took a pay cut last year to remain with the Detroit Lions through the last year of his deal. It was a win for both sides as the Lions saved some money and Raiola played very well. In fact, it worked out so well the two sides have reached an agreement on a new one-year deal.

We’ll have to wait for more specific details to know what a “nice raise” exactly means. Faced with the possibility of being a cap casualty last year, Raiola agreed to a salary reduction from $4.05 million down to $1 million.
Raiola counted just over $3 million against the Lions 2013 cap.
