“Do something” about Louis Delmas

I know, “do something” is pretty specific. Delmas is currently a $6.5 million cap hit next season in Detroit. Although he finally managed to stay healthy for an entire season, his play in 2013 does not warrant that type of pay in 2014. The Lions first need to offer Delmas a new deal. If they can’t work something out, it may be time to cut ties with Delmas. Though energetic and a vocal leader, the fact of the matter is that he is a sub-par tackler, often a liability in coverage, and his reckless style of play knocked one of his own teammates out, quite literally, this past season. Parting ways with Delmas could spark other moves, including a free agent signing or an early draft pick.
