The Detroit Lions have reportedly set up another interview for their vacant head coaching position. ESPN’s Ed Werder reports this morning that Mike Munchak, newly fired by the Tennessee Titans, will interview with the team on Friday.

In three seasons as the Titans’ head coach, he guided the team to records of 9-7, 6-10 and 7-9. The front office reportedly wanted widespread changes made to the Titans coaching staff but Munchak was fired after he refused. Munchak served as the team’s offensive line coach prior to becoming head coach. In fact, Munchak is something of a lifer, having been drafted by the Houston Oilers in 1982 and staying within the organization until being fired just days ago.

Despite coming from an offensive background, Munchak is apparently busting out all the stops in his attempt to woo the Lions.

With Ken Whisenhunt routinely talked about as the favorite to land the job, other coaches can’t enter the interview believing they are on equal footing. The Detroit Tigers hired Brad Ausmus after being awed beyond expectations; will the same happen with the Lions?

I really believe whisehunt and caldwell our not a good fit! whisenhunt record45-51 NO! caldwell 24-8 maybe! munchak I do admire his conviction and loyality to his staff But did we not just get read of a guy with same problem! I hate that Whisehunt is a friend of Mayhews and this a big reason why Whisehunt should not be the lions coach plus his record is lousy!he destroyed a good team after warner left and is not a dicsipline coach !
