Need another name to add to the list of Detroit Lions coaching rumors? Dave Birkett has one:
I hear the Lions have interest in Seahawks assistant head coach Tom Cable for their HC position. Would add a power element to Lions offense.

Cable has a ton of experience with offensive linemen, having coached the position at the NFL level with the Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders and currently the Seattle Seahawks. He took over the Raiders as head coach on an interim basis after the firing of Lane Kiffin in 2008 and was officially named the team’s head coach thereafter, lasting through the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
While Cable has proven capable of producing effective running attacks, he might be best known for getting into an altercation with one of his assistants that resulted in a hospital trip. When the Lions say they want their next coach to be a leader, I’m not sure brute force is one the leadership traits they desire.
This kind of development is much more likely to make the Lions fanbase nervous than excited. At this point it is probably best to just consider Cable one name of what is sure to be many rather than getting too worked up about it.
