Calvin Johnson Poised to Become Detroit Lions All-Time Leading Receiver

The Detroit Lions have already seen the franchise’s career passing record broken this year when Matthew Stafford passed Bobby Layne. As Stafford adds to his franchise record this week against the Eagles, we are likely to see another franchise record broken.

Herman Moore sits as the Lions all-time leading receiver with 9,174 yards over the 11 seasons and 145 games he spent in Detroit. Now in his seventh season and having played 104 games, Calvin Johnson is just 39 yards back of Moore‘s record with 9,135 career receiving yards.

With a season average of 118 yards per game, it would seem Johnson is a good bet to grab the record this week. However, Megatron does have two games this season in which he finished with less than the yardage needed. With the record so close, you can bet Stafford will be looking to get Calvin the yards he needs.

Johnson broke Moore’s franchise record for receiving touchdowns earlier this year. Moore retains the franchise record for receptions with 670 but with Calvin at 560, that one may only be a year away from being broken as well.
